Behrang Bidadian is a researcher, analyst, GIS specialist, architect, and Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) focused on disaster risk assessment and resilience. He holds a Ph.D. in Human and Community Development from West Virginia University, along with master’s degrees in architectural engineering and geology.
His research interests include sustainable and resilient development, urban and community planning, disaster risk assessment and mitigation, social vulnerability, environmental equity, geospatial analysis, and risk index development. He has contributed to the development of tools and frameworks that support data-driven decision-making for planners and emergency managers.
At the West Virginia GIS Technical Center (WVGISTC), he works at the intersection of data, research, and practice to help communities understand and mitigate natural hazards, including floods and landslides. He collaborates with local communities, emergency managers, and researchers to translate complex data into actionable insights that inform planning, policy, and risk reduction. He also contributes to projects focused on sustainable development.
